MUSCLE SHOALS – Northwest-Shoals Community College will host a Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (FAME) drive-through Signing Day for 18 students on the Shoals campus Thursday, August 20 at 6pm.  Each student will be sponsored by local business and industry. 

The FAME Advanced Manufacturing Technician (AMT) class will consist of 18 students selected by the following companies: 

• Constellium – sponsoring 10 students 

• Essity – sponsoring one student 

• Flexco – sponsoring one student 

• FreightCar America – sponsoring two students 

• G and G Steel – sponsoring two students 

• Jack Daniel’s Cooperage – sponsoring one student 

• Southwire – sponsoring one student 

The drive-through signing will take place at 

Building 120 on NW-SCC Shoals campus, 800 George Wallace Blvd in Muscle Shoals. 

The Alabama FAME AMT program at NW-SCC currently has 14 students.  The new class will bring the two-year program’s capacity to 32. 

The FAME program is a pathway to a challenging and well-paying career as a multi-skilled technician.  Students will attend classes two full days, 16-20 hours per week, while working three full days, consisting of 24+ contact hours, with a sponsoring company.  FAME Students earn a competitive wage while attending college and gain priceless work experience.  Over two years students can earn as much as $33,500, which, with planning can cover all of a student’s education expenses.
